What to expect during DSL installation
Once an order is placed on-line by completing our DSL order form, you will receive an email of your scheduled DSL installation date.
SBC will be sending a technician on your assigned DSL installation day anywhere from 8AM to 5PM. Normal installation time seems to be about 2 hours and can run up to 3 hours. During installation, you, or an authorized adult, will need to be present.
The billing for your DSL service will not be billed on a separate SBC billing statement but billed directly on your CNS billing statement. If it does, please immediately contact us via email at rts@berkeley.edu so it can be corrected. Please include your DSL telephone number and be prepared to fax your billing statement of the charges. Our fax number is 510-643-7046.
To help your installation go as smoothly as possible, please make sure your computer is set-up and ready before the technician arrives and that you have clearly identified where you would like the DSL connection installed. We also ask that you have the licensed copy of your computer's operating system available. It is important that you be available to the technician during installation. Your input will be valuable in helping the technician choose appropriate installation options. Before leaving, the technician will walk you through the registration process and ensure that you are surfing at high-speed with our new SBC Yahoo! DSL service.
SBC technicians are restricted from moving/repositioning furniture; working on computers that are connected to a WAN/LAN (Wide or Local Area Network) or servers of any type or that have corporate VPN software installed. Installation technicians can work only with company-provided equipment.
During the registration process, you'll be presented with the Terms and Service, which you must accept in order to complete registration and begin using SBC Yahoo! DSL. The Terms of Service are available for review on SBC's web site at http://sbc.yahoo.com/terms.
