Call Waiting
When you hear a beep tone during a telephone conversation, it is notification there is a second call waiting. Briefly depress your phone's switch hook (flash) to answer the second call (this will automatically put the first call on hold). To alternate between callers, flash once each time you wish to change between callers.

How to Temporarily Cancel This Feature:

  1. Lift handset and listen for dial tone.
  2. For touch tone phone dial "74".
  3. For modem type "74,then the number".
  4. Hear confirmation tone followed by dial tone.
  5. During your conversation anyone calling you will hear a busy signal.
  6. NOTE: Cancellation of Call Waiting will only last for one call. You must cancel Call Waiting for each call which you do not wish to have interupted.

Three-Way Calling
You can generate three-way calls using two additional campus numbers, or one additional campus number and one off-campus number. Your call will be terminated when you (the originating caller) hang up. Please be sure to hang up for at least five seconds between calls if you do not want to use the three way calling feature.

How to use this feature:

  1. Dial the first number, and get that person on the line.
  2. Press and release the receiver button once to put that party on "hold". Listen for the stutter dial tone.
  3. Dial the second telephone number. Get the second party on the line, announce you are setting up a three-way (conference) call.
  4. To begin the three-way call, press and release the receiver button one additional time and connect all callers.

To Deactivate the Caller-ID Block on a Specific Call
All Residence halls and International House lines have complete caller id blocking. You can temporarily cancel this feature on a per call basis.

Enter *82 before dialing the desired number. The *82 must be entered BEFORE dialing either the 5-digit campus number, or 9 + external number.

Other Dialing Options
As an alternative to using your IAC you may also make calls outside of the local dialing area by charging them to a telephone calling card or major credit card. We suggest these methods be used only by guests who do not have an IAC. We do not recommend using these methods as they are usually more expensive than using your IAC.

To Place Calls With a Telephone Calling Card
Follow instructions on the back of your card.

To Place Calls With A Major Credit Card
Domestic:
Dial "8" + "0" + the telephone number. Wait for an operator to come on the line. Provide the operator with information on your credit card.

International:
Dial "8" + "01" + the telephone number. Wait for an operator to come on the line. Pr ovide the operator with information on your credit card.

*NOTE: All calls initiated by dialing "8" are processed by Sprint. If you wish to use a different carrier, you will need to request that the Sprint operator process your call through your carrier of choice.
