General Questions

Why is the service fee mandatory?

Service fee pays for the land line connection in your room. Each room has one active jack which is connected to the University's telephone network. Basic telephone service is mandatory because it provides 911 access and increases our chances of getting in contact with you in an emergency.

Why did you charge me for some of the calls I made to 800-numbers when 800-numbers are free?

Not all 800 calls are free! Some calls generated by dialing an 800-number are actually routed to 900-collect numbers, or even to international telephone lines. This is often the case with "adult entertainment" telephone numbers.
