Accessing and Using Your IAC
Your Individual Authorization Code, IAC
When you accepted a Housing and Dining or International House residence contract, you were assigned an INDIVIDUAL AUTHORIZATION CODE (IAC). This random seven digit number is the code you will need to make long distance calls from your residence hall phone. It also makes it possible for Residence Telephone Services to provide individual telephone statements for each resident of a dorm room, and you are held responsible for only those long distance calls you make.
Accessing Your Individual Authorization Code
- To access your individual authorization code (IAC) you will need your CalNet ID and passphrase. Please have your CalNet identification and passphrase ready.
- Please click to
access your code
- Follow the instructions and prompts on the web site.
- When you press "Accept" the code will be activated and
available for use.
*If you forget your code, you can always come back to this site.
If you do not have your Calnet ID and passphrase set up, you will need to do this first. Please go to https://calnet.berkeley.edu/.
As all calls made using this code will be billed to your
account, BE SECURITY CONSCIOUS. Treat your IAC as carefully as you would a credit card. DO
NOT SHARE THE NUMBER WITH YOUR ROOMMATES OR FRIENDS.
Using your IAC
When you wish to call any number outside of a 12 mile local calling radius of the
campus from your room (or from any other residence hall room phone)
- Dial 9.
- Dial 1+Area Code if you are calling a number outside of area
code 510.
- Dial the seven digit number you are calling.
- You will hear a stutter dial tone (short, interrupted bursts
of tone) indicating you should enter your IAC.
- Enter your IAC and your call will be connected.
- The charges for that call will appear on your residence
telephone statement.
If you believe someone has learned your IAC, please notify
Residence Telephone Services immediately at 643-7000.
We will cancel the number and issue a replacement one.
Unassigned IAC
If you have tried to access your IAC on-line and received the message "An IAC has not been assigned to you..." then you need to fill out a service agreement application. A telephone account has not been set up for you in our database. Once you fill out the service agreement application you will be assigned an IAC.
If you complete the service application by 4PM, Monday through Friday, your IAC will be assigned and available for access by the next business day. All IAC's are updated at midnight.
