Low Cost Modems

Low Cost Modems is a shared service allowing UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students to access Campus network services from their computers, at home and in the field, over standard telephone lines using high speed modems. Please remember that long distance charges may apply.

This service is provided by IST - Communication and Network Services (CNS).

There is an 2-hour session limit. This means that every dial up connection to the high speed modem pool: (848-5298, 647-5117) will be dropped without notice when the connection reaches the 2-hour point. You can dial back immediately to try to get a new connection. If you receive a busy signal, please just try dialing at a later time.
